Pattern Test: Always Summer (maxi) Dress/Tunic

For once I also blog in English, since this blogpost is about an English pattern test.
Because my English is far from perfect, I had Davina, from Woohoo, my friend,  translate this blog post.
She tested the same pattern, by the way, and you can find her blog post here. Thanks, Davina!

Dankuwel Davina!

Maxi dress/jurk.

I begin with the third version of this dress, since it is Louise’s absolute summertime favourite!
Wear, wash, dry, iron and repeat.
And also always being a bit disappointed when it’s in the laundry basket.
I made the size 6, for my 5-year-old Louise.
I hemmed three centimetres twice (six in total) so next summer I can just take it out of the closet, put a bias binding on it and it is ready for another summer.

Aandoen, wassen, drogen, strijken, repeat.

The skirt is a little narrower than on the pattern. Because I had only just enough fabric left to take the length once, I used the full fabric width instead of the measurements on the pattern.

Tunic with gathered skirt/Tuniek met rimpelrok

I wasn’t thinking of a tunic when I cut this fabric, because I don’t really like tunics. I only noticed my mistake when I posted a message on the tester’s page that the dress turned out really, really short. Apparently I cut on the wrong line… :p
I tried to gain some centimetres, so I hemmed by using a bias tape.
I am thinking of remaking this combination on dress length, or maybe even as a maxi dress.

A-line dress/A-lijn jurk.

A very quick dress to sew!
And even quicker if you choose the high neck back. ;)
